New Korean Muslim increase in number but they lack of Islamic guidance!
According to the Korea Muslim Federation (KMF), number of new Korean Muslim give shahadah increase every month with ratio minimum 1 person every month.
Still, Muslims are the minority population in the country which is dominated by Christian and Buddhists.
In certain places, Muslims in South Korea are discriminated against in their workplace, school, and society.
Pursuing a Muslim lifestyle is a big challenge in South Korea.
- Mosque or place to get knowledge after becoming a Muslims are very far for them to reach out.
- Lack of people to guide them about lslam.
- Some of Korean think that hijab is used to control women’s freedom, and they shouldn’t wear it at public.
- And many of Korean have been mistrusted by Muslims which is associated with terrorism.
- Muslims in South Korea also hard to get a copy of the Korean Quran translation.
The Rise of Islam in South Korea
As number of Korean Muslims increase month by month, there is something that we need to support and be part of it.
Tapping into this potential, MyFundAction finds this opportunity to take part in spreading and supporting Islam in South Korea.
In 2021, we trained our volunteers to handle and held a weekly free online Islamic class for Korean Muslims and new reverts in Korea to learn more about Islam.
“Its really hard for us to buy or find out a hard copy of Korean Al Quran translation in South Korea”, said sister Solehah, 19 years old new Korean Muslims.
We planned to widen this effort and reach out to more Korean Muslims.
But, we can’t make this dream alone without the support from Muslims all over the world.
We are targeting to help 5000 Korean to learn about Islam throughout our activities and classes.
