Green Masjid Program Reduces Bills and Creates Income Opportunities!
High electricity and water bills are a common burden for mosques, often consuming most of the donations they receive. This leaves little for Dakwah programs or other community activities.
To align with Malaysia’s 2050 zero-carbon goal, MyFundAction has joined forces with other agencies to launch impactful initiatives to support mosques.
First Green Masjid in Kuala Selangor
Masjid Jame’ At Tuqo, Tanjong Karang, was chosen for Kuala Selangor’s first Rumah Ibadat Hijau and Komuniti Lestari Program for its strong support of green initiatives and environmental awareness, setting an example for other masjids.
What Are The Project Initiatives?
Rumah Ibadat Hijau (Green Masjid)
- Installation of solar PV system on the rooftop.
- Construction of a Rain Shelter (RPH) for community gardening purposes.
- Building a Rainwater Harvesting and Reuse System (SPAH).
- Establishment of a recycling collection area.
- Establishment of a compost waste collection area.
- Replacement of some electrical equipment with energy-efficient ones.
- Installation of Water-Efficient Taps.
Komuniti Lestari (Sustainable Community)
- Introducing the community to sustainable development practices.
- Appointment of a Committee and Workshop on the Green Masjid governance.
- Recycling awareness program for used items.
- Tree planting activities for edible plants and trees.
- Awareness program on electricity and water conservation.
- Community activity for the installation of water-efficient taps.
- Plant waste composting activity.
