Clean Drinking Water : It's A Basic Right

Underserved families in Kampung Palas do not have adequate clean water supply for more than a year.

This is due to unstable water sources and the villagers are forced to use water that is not guaranteed cleanliness.

These villagers’ everyday challenges reflect a global situation in which almost a billion people lack access to safe, affordable drinking water.

“We take water from a drain on the side of the main road. The real danger is to take water there because the main road is always used by people to go to Gua Musang and Cameron Highlands.”

According to reports, 95 percent of the population, mostly in cities, has access to clean, treated water.

However, between 24 and 36 percent of the population in some rural communities, particularly the villages of Malaysia’s indigenous minority, the Orang Asli, do not enjoy this luxury.

Every 20 seconds, a kid dies as a result of consuming contaminated water. The inequalities in Malaysia are terrific.

People think if the water is clear it’s okay to drink. They don’t realize it can be deadly.

Water-borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and diarrhea can all be spread by drinking untreated water.

Eye infections and intestinal worms cause further suffering!

DEVELOPING PRACTICAL SOLUTIONS

Figuring out how to improve the health conditions of poor, underserved families would become a personal crusade for us.

We at MyFundAction managed to provide 2 water tanks on the hill that act as storage tanks.

We have also made the replacement of damaged pipes along 2 km to the village area.

Also, we have placed another water tank in the village as a daily use tank.

Now, the residents of Kampung Palas can breathe a sigh of relief because this clean water will be used for various community activities together.

HOWEVER, THIS PROJECT IS FACING ARREARS COSTS!

The total cost of the project is up to RM20,000 but there are still arrears of construction costs.

To date, the accumulated amount so far is only RM10,910 and there is still a balance of RM9,090!

In their joy of getting clean water supply, they still anxious and uncomfortable to sit.

They cannot have the access to clean water if there is still arrear cost!

Help them to get a basic right in accessing clean water.
