What really happened in Dedza District, Malawi

Did you know that the locals in Dedza, Malawi, had to use unclean water every day for drinking, bathing, and other uses.

This is the only water source they have. They can either use water and hope for nothing serious, or they can go without water and face potentially consequences like death.

“The water’s so cloudy and it gives off unpleasant smell. Before I could drink it, I had to boil it first.” said a Malawian mother

Another problem is that, each day is a struggle for the women in that district to obtain 20-25 litres of water.

“Some came to the water source early in the morning, while others tried their luck late at night.” said a local who lives there

Therefore, by looking at the situation they faced, MyFundAction has taken the initiatives to ease their burden by installing 3 boreholes in Bwanali, Sani and Ntonya so that clean water can be pumped from the ground.

Locals will benefit from having access to clean water, which will also help the community’s level of hygiene.
