Short Story: The Truth About Heart Defect
Many babies are born with congenital heart defects, and adults are at risk for coronary artery disease and other heart conditions.
Congenital heart defect is the most common birth defect worldwide, however it is rarely discussed in Malaysia.
According to the Ministry of Health, based on the 500,000 births per year, roughly 500 kids are born with this disease.
However, congenital heart also can occur to adults.

The Ministry of Health has outlined these following signs to indicate heart defects in infants:
Blueness (cyanosis) The infant may display blueness of the skin/ blue baby syndrome since birth due to the high presence of blood without oxygen in the bloodstream. |
Heart failure The infant may have rapid breathing or breathing difficulties during rest or feeding |
Heart murmur Has a heart murmur as a result of disturbed blood flow |
Impacted growth As a result of heart failure or lack of oxygen |
According to the American-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the problem can range from moderate, such as a small hole in the heart, to severe, such as missing or poorly formed parts of the heart.
One out of every four newborns born with the disease is considered critical and requires surgery or other procedures during the first year of life.
Many congenital heart defects show no signs or symptoms. If multiple heart defects are detected in newborns, certain symptoms might appear:

We are supporting up to 20 patients that were diagnosed with heart defect to help them get urgent surgery if needed, treatment needs and their medical equipment.
The objective is to provide thousands of people a “second chance” to receive the care they require in order to live a better life.

As for the parents, detecting it as early as possible we can change the life of that child, his family, the community and the country itself.
A lot of kids with congenital heart disease are still in the waiting list for heart surgery.
At least $25,000 is needed for every heart surgery to be done.
