In Malaysia, a nursing home typically costs around RM 2,500 per month. For the lower class of B40 (B10-B20), who make less than RM 3169 per month, it was pricey.
Even though homecare services has been around for a while, it is still not widely available.
Due to ageing population, rising rates of chronic and degenerative diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and stroke, as well as an increase in workplace and road accidents, make homecare very important recently.
It is also crucial to note that 45.9% of the caregivers are from low-income families who are taking care of their sick family. This may correspond to the affordability of formal service institutions for home care being inaccessible to this group.
What is MyFundAction doing?
This project is aimed at supporting underprivileged individuals suffering from chronic illnesses by supporting their medical and needs.
