Living on less than RM20 a day feels impossible, but it’s a reality for 10,000 hardcore poor household heads in Malaysia.

To break the cycle of poverty involves decent and productive jobs, sustainable businesses and economic development.  For many people, finding work is a key path out of poverty.

But challenges faced by B40 households are:

  • Having low wealth and assets ownership
  • Highly dependent on government assistance
  • Female head of households tend to receive less income

All the challenges are due to lack of education, engage in low skilled work.

 

 

What is MyFundAction doing?

We are supporting 60 beneficiaries annually to get out of the poverty line through Business for Ummah (Biz4U) program. The goal is to continue to uplift and enhance the quality of life of the B40 households in Malaysia through economic sustainability and well-being.

  • To increase existing micro entrepreneurs income via business packages assistance
  • To support existing micro entrepreneurs with additional business package
  • To encourage the entrepreneurs to expand their business via stall or franchise packages

Contribution needed Monetary or in kind sponsorship

Together with partners, we develop skills and technical training programs, and we advocate them with 6 months income monitoring to help them sustain their income.

Updates on Business For Ummah (Biz4U) – Poultry Projects

 

January 2023 Start  of 2nd cycle of the chicken project
Batu Kikir, Negeri Sembilan

 

After 50 days, most chickens have gained weight between 1.0kg to 1.5kg. This is a good indicator that the chickens are growing in a healthy condition.

February 2022 Progress of 2nd cycle of the chicken project

Biz4U Poultry Project were started on October 2022 which include 2 beneficiaries in Batu Kikir Negeri Sembilan Encik Rusdi and Puan Norehan. 

The projects currently in second cycle of project with a total of 300 chicken production. The chicken is set to harvest on April 2023 in line with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration. This will open up opportunities for the beneficiaries to market their products thus increasing their income and let them to progress for new cycles of chicken production.

March 2023 Kick – off of Sustainable Community Poultry Projects (SCoPP) 2023 
Selangor – Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor
20 selected agropreneurs from B40 communities participating in SCoPP23  

MyFundAction is collaborating with Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (KPS Berhad) in Sustainable Community Poultry Project (SCoPP) 2023 where 20 selected participants from 4 districts in Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Kuala Langat, Hulu Selangor and Hulu Langat) participated in this SCoPP collaboration with Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (KPS Berhad). They are from B40 and underprivileged communities.

Practical session during training and practical courses for SCoPP23

In 7-8 March 2023, 20 selected beneficiaries went through 2 days training courses focusing on managing Ayam Kampung. The training included theoretical and practical. The beneficiaries also received certificates endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) and Veterinar Department of Malaysia. Now the beneficiaries are equipped with first hand knowledge in rearing Ayam Kampung. They will receive the poultry assistance packaging as  part of the project soon.

Who is eligible for Biz4U Program?

Business for Ummah program targets the B40 group with an income bracket of RM 2,000 and below. 

The applicant must be:

  • A Malaysian citizen 18 years old and above
  • From a B40 families
  • A head of household or breadwinner
  • An existing small scale entrepreneurs
  • Having deep interest in entrepreneurship
  • Ready to commit with the program for at least for 2 years
How does crowdfunding of this project benefit the beneficiaries?

The fund raised from the campaign will be utilized accordingly based on MyFundAction’s beneficiaries assessment and selection criteria. Each beneficiary will be assessed. After selection, they will be provided with the assistance package valued up to RM8,000 per beneficiary.
 

What happens to the beneficiaries after completing the program's monitoring cycle of the program?

The initial Biz4U beneficiary’s monitoring period will be conducted at least for six months. But, if the beneficiary does not achieve our target in terms of their income, soft skills and business development, MyFundAction will extend the monitoring period for another 6 months; up to a 2-year period. For the successful candidate, they will become one of our entrepreneurs for Koperasi Biz4U.
